Monday Make A – Essential Oil Uses

Candy Cane Bath Salts
Ellen’s Kitchen

  • 2 cups Epsom salt
  • 1/2 c. sea salt
  • 4-6 drops peppermint oil
  • 2-3 drops red food coloring.

Place 1 cup Epsom and 1/4 cup sea salt in a bowl. Add 2-3 drops peppermint oil. Place the remaining ingredients in a second bowl. Mix well. Layer the red and white salts in a clear bottle or jar.
To use: Sprinkle about 1/4 cup of the salts into warm tub of water.

Relaxing Bath Salts

You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups sea salt
  • 1/2 cup epson salt
  • 6 drops lavender EO
  • 4 drops orange EO
  • 3 drops ylang-ylang EO
  • large mixing bowl /NOT metal
  • plastic spoon
  • air-tight container

Directions: Combine all ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Pour mixture into container.
To Use: Pour 1/4 cup into warm bath
Yields 2.5 cups of Bath salt
* feel free to adjust amount of Essential Oils to suit.*

Jell Air Freshener

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 4 packages unflavored gelatin
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 15 drops of your favorite essential oil
  • food coloring of your choice (try to “match” the scent)
  • large jar (mason jars work best)
  • plastic wrap
  • crocheted doily
  • piece of ribbon, long enough to go around mouth of jar and tie

To boiling water, add unflavored gelatin, and salt, stir until dissolved. Remove from heat, add oil and food coloring of your choice. place in jar, cover with plastic and let sit overnight. Remove plastic cover and replace with a doily & pretty ribbon
Scent lasts about 2 weeks.

Bath Oil

  • 1 cup safflower oil
  • 1/2 cup lanoline
  • 1 dram sandalwood oil
  • 1 dram amber oil
  • 1 dram patchouli oil

Mix together to dissolve, cap tightly. Use to your liking .

Healing bath oil recipes

  • 1/cup olive oil
  • 1 drop Rose
  • 1 drop gardenia
  • 1 drop sandalwood.

Mix thoroughly and then charge for the purpose of healing, then chant:

I charge, I conjure, I feed, I fill,
With a healing charge, to cure what ills.
Bless the user and cleanse the ailment,
As he/she uses this oil for his/her entailment.

  • 2 drops carnation
  • 2 drops cinnamon.

Mix thoroughly and charge.

  • 2 drops lime
  • 2 drops lemon balm

Mix thoroughly and charge.

Healing Bath Oil

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 drops Poppy seed oil
  • 2 drops saffron
  • 2 drops thyme oil

Mix thoroughly and charge.

***Just a side note here – many people are struggling to make ends meet, and though it’s still a ways away, Christmas is coming. For a very small investment you can make a large number of these and give them as gifts. Not only will it save you some cash, but it will also allow you to add some “love” and thoughtfulness to your gifts…Another thought regarding this and other bath salts. You can also add an appropriate stone – or several – to fortify and strengthen the salts…there is list (far from all inclusive, I’m afraid…) of different stones and their associations here.

    I gave up dancing around in the buff about 7 years ago…although I will say, I miss the income…
