Thursday This Is Your Spell – Midsummer Marigold Endurance Spell

June 17, 2010 at 9:43 am (Flowers, Garden, Litha, Magic, Midsummer, pagan, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

Midsummer Marigold Endurance Spell
Unknown author

Write your birth-sign on a small stone in permanent pen. In a large flower pot, place the stone at the bottom. Plant a marigold on top, placing seven stones around the plant. As you work, chant:

"Sing me the song of seasons
Show me the sun’s delight
Open my heart for you radiance
Lead me towards the light."

The marigold is the flower of endurance that always turns its face toward the sun, following its path through the sky. This ritual will give you endurance.

Midsummer’s Day Herb Gathering Spell
From Pagan’s Palace – Now Gone 😦

Midsummer’s Day is a traditional time for Witches in all parts of the world to gather herbs from their gardens or from the wild to use in potions, dream pillows, poppets, and other forms of spellcraft. To be recited on Midsummer’s Day, thrice before and thrice after gathering your herbs for magickal workings:

"Herbs of magick, herbs of power,
Root and bark, leaf and flower,
Work for me when charms are spoken,
Potions brewed and curses broken!"

Thursday This is Your Spell – Rose Spell For The Fey

May 20, 2010 at 9:20 am (Fae, Faery, Fairies, Fairy, Flowers, Litha, Love, Magic, Midsummer, pagan, Plants, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

Rose Spell For The Fey
Said to be from a 17th century work

Midsummer is a time when the Fey are out and about, so it seems like it would be a good time to try to attract some to your garden – if you want to. Roses attract the Faery to a garden. Their sweet scent will lure elemental spirits to take up residence close by. Roses can be used in Faery love spells. When performing the spell, sprinkle rose petals under your feet and dance softly upon them while asking the Faery for their blessing on your magic. Roses are loved by the fey so you can plant Roses in your garden to attract fairies. Wild Roses are best for this purpose and you need to say the following spell as you plant your baby Rose bush:

"I ask a fairy from the wild,
To come and tend this wee rose-child.
A babe of air she thrives today,
Root her soul in the Goddesses’ good clay.
Fairies make this twig your bower,
By your magic shall time see her flower!"

Thursday This Is Your Spell – A Midsummer’s Eve Honey Spell For Beauty

May 13, 2010 at 7:46 am (Beauty, Cosmetics, Fae, Faery, Honey, Litha, Magic, Midsummer, pagan, Self-image, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

A Midsummer’s Eve Honey Spell For Beauty
From Dancing with the Sun: Celebrating the Seasons of Life by Yasmine Galenorn

Summer is a time of beauty and honey is a food connected with beauty, both inner and outer. This is a simple spell to perform on Midsummer’s Eve and you can enchant enough honey to last through the year until next summer! You can double or triple the ingredients depending on how much you’ll be using.

On the Full moon before Midsummer’s Eve, gather the following:

  • 1 Lb honey
  • 1 sliced vanilla bean
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 inch sliced gingerroot
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • fifth of Apricoy Brandy
  • mirror
  • your hairbrush

In a heavy pan, stir together all the ingredients. Stir over medium-low heat for 20 minutes. Strain into a pretty jar with a tight fitting lid. Store until Midsummer’s Eve. Near dusk on Midsummer’s Eve, take your honey, a fifth of apricot brandy, a hand mirror, and your hairbrush outside (if it’s raining you can perform this at your Litha altar). Set up the mirror on a tree stump or rock so you can see yourself in it. Place the honey jar, the brandy and the brush on the rock with the mirror on it. Cast a circle and invoke the elements. Say:

"Queen Mab, Queen of faerie, Your blessing I ask
Reflect your beauty in my looking glass."

Look in the mirror and see your unique beauty, Say:

"Like honey my words will both charm and enchant
Stirring memories of wine and the labyrinth dance."

Eat a teaspoon of honey and hear the sweet sounds of your voice. Say:

"Like brandy my presence bewitches and glows
With elegance strength and the power of poise."

Drink a teaspoon of the brandy and feel your carriage shift, your posture straighten and your demeanor take on an otherworldly refinement. Say:

"Be it shorter or, I find in my hair
The power of beauty, my looks they are fair."

Take up the brush and brush your hair, feeling the strength of your beauty ripple from your inner core to radiate through your body and in your face. Meditate on your individual and unique beauty, comparing yourself to no one and then close the spell saying:

"Queen Mab, Queen of Faerie, bless my mirror and my brush,
To my lips bring bright crimson, to my cheeks, a fair blush,
To the honey bring charm and the power of song,
To the brandy bring strength for the winter so long,
To my heart bring both courage and the power to see
The beauty and glamour belonging only to me.
Blessed be."

Devoke the elements and open the circle. Take the honey and brandy and keep them on your personal altar or vanity table with your brush and mirror. Each evening eat a spoonful of the honey and drink a spoonful of the brandy.

Thursday This is Your Spell – Midsummer Herb Charm

May 6, 2010 at 9:48 am (Animals, Herbs, Home, Litha, Magic, Midsummer, pagan, Protection, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

Midsummer Herb Charm
Unknown source

You will need:

  • sprig of fresh rue
  • sprig of fresh St Johns Wort
  • sprig of Rowan

Tie all these together with red yarn. Of course, if these herbs cannot be found in bloom at this time in your area, assemble the dried version and fill a red pouch with them. These charms also work nicely hung over the doors of the home for general house protection. This is an old charm that was made and hung above the doors of stables. For modern use, consider making these and hanging over your pet’s sleeping quarters to bless and protect them.

Thursday This Is Your Spell – Spell For the Binding of A Union

April 29, 2010 at 9:27 am (Beltane, Fertility, Handfasting, Life, Love, Magic, Marriage, pagan, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

Spell For the Binding of A Union

There are two kinds of union. One is temporary, for this lifetime or for part of this lifetime. The other kind is the Eternal Marriage, which brings reunion across time, through reincarnation. The Eternal Marriage is a soul mate thing that should not be undertaken lightly – making it with the wrong person can adversely affect your karma. So can making it without reciprocation. Making it with more than one person can make for a tumultuous love life in future incarnations.

Be careful.

To work the spell, write both names on a piece of papyrus or good quality paper.  Bind it with red thread and burn it with herbs of love or Venus as you recite the spell. Bury the ashes beneath a tree, or scatter them near the pyramids in Egypt. It is an Arab proverb that ‘time laughs at history, but the pyramids laugh at time’. This is an eternal spell, unless you alter it.

Aphrodite Goddess of Degraded Love and the sanctity of marriage make our cup to runneth over, and bless us with your Love.

Aphrodite, rising from the wine-dark sea, grant us health and fertility, fidelity and trust, grant us wealth and virility, honesty and lust.

Aphrodite, bless this union, make our two hearts beat as one – make the flames of passion burn without burning us, hot without hurting us, blaze without blinding us, fire without end.

Aphrodite, force of nature, let us love each other so long as we shall live, let us give each other all we have to give, let us be together in this life and the next.

Aphrodite, Queen of Beauty, we do you honor each time we make love, make our bond to last forever, grant us eternal Love.

Aphrodite, Goddess of the windblown foam, give us healthy children and a happy home.

Aphrodite bless this union and smile upon our Love..

Thursday This is Your Spell – To Bless And Consecrate Wedding Rings

April 15, 2010 at 9:09 am (Beginnings, Beltane, Blessing, Handfasting, Love, Magic, Marriage, pagan, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

To Bless And Consecrate Wedding Rings
Source Unknown

Needed:

  • the rings
  • bell (optional)
  • sage to smudge
  • blessings written by those to whom the rings will belong
  • chalice containing your preferred beverage for ceremonies
  • white Goddess Candle
  • black God candle
  • red candle to represent Fire
  • incense to represent Air
  • small bowl of Water
  • salt to represent Earth

To consecrate, bless and dedicate Wedding Rings to the Lord and Lady, first find the place where you wish to set up the altar. This place must not be disturbed, for it will take on sacred and holy energies, and you will not want anything to happen to this area.

Write two blessings to read to each other if you desire to and use some beautiful music if there is some available. Have a Chalice of wine on the altar to drink from after the blessing. Remember, the more energy and work that you put into your blessing ceremony, the more magical energy it will take on. You may use a bell to signify that you are beginning.

Once you have found that place smudge with sage, keeping “Love and Light” in your consciousness. Next, ask the four elements for their presence and for their blessing for your rings. Next, set up the altar, placing the rings you wish to bless on the altar gently. Arrange the candles to your liking, and the elemental representations in the appropriate locations. Once your altar is set up spend a few moments in quiet meditation thinking about what this Ring Blessing Ceremony means to you. Feel the magic around you. breathe in the Love and Light from the Lord and Lady. Visual yourself and your love for each other revitalized because of it’s presence. See yourself becoming more healthy, whole, and wise.
Say aloud the Blessings you have written for each other.
Sprinkle the rings with Salt for East; (Earth)
Pass rings over or through the red candle flame; South (Fire)
Sprinkle rings with water, West (Water)
Pass rings through Incense smoke, North; (Air)
Say something like:

"We pledge these rings consecrated to the Lord and Lady
to each other as an outward symbol of our love for each other ."

Drink from the Chalice holding it each to the others lips. Replace Chalice. When you are ready to end your Ring Blessing Ritual; sound the bell once (if you opted to use it) again, thanking all elements for their presence and assistance. Release them back to their abodes, asking harm to none on their way. Thank the Lord and Lady for their presence in your life. Take a deep breath of the fresh magic around you and aver: So mote it be!

Thursday This Is Your Spell – The Broom Purification

March 25, 2010 at 9:17 am (Banish, Broom, Cleaning, Cleansing, Home, Magic, pagan, Spell, Thursday, Witch)

The Broom Purification
Source Unknown

Before dawn, take a branch from any tree. Thank the tree for its gift and leave a coin or semi-precious stone at its base in payment. Next, obtain several brightly colored flowers on long stalks. Tie these flowers to the branch to fashion a sort of broom, then sweep the floor in every room of the house, visualizing the flowers of the broom absorbing negativity and "evil" as you work.
Then, still before sunrise, leave the broom at the crossroads. Traditionally this ritual is repeated at the first of each month.

Thursday This Is Your Spell – Fertility Spell

March 11, 2010 at 10:10 am (Children, Fertility, Kids, Magic, Ostara, pagan, Spell, Thursday, Witch, Witchlets)

Fertility Spell

  • Patchouli oil
  • Sandalwood incense
  • 2 pine cones
  • 3 wheat heads
  • Green Candle
  • Green marker
  • Paper

Rub the oil on the candle and anoint yourself around the womb area with a drop of oil. Light the candle and incense and place the pine cones and wheat into a cauldron or container. Visualize your magical goal and use the marker to draw yourself on the right hand side of the paper as you are now – draw yourself as you want to be on the left side (flat belly, pregnant belly will do just fine) visualize your goal while drawing – when you feel you’ve visualized enough tear the paper in half and fold the left side with your goal drawn on it into a small square and place it in your pocket then light the other paper in the candle flame and place it in the cauldron to burn. Chant or pray for your goal to be realized as you watch the paper burn. Bury the contents of the cauldron in your yard – preferable a garden – leave an offering of a small crumb of cake on a crystal plate for any good spirits or fairies who might happen by. Stay positive so you don’t attract the attention of any jealous or bad fairies! Keep the paper with your goal drawn on it with you at all times until your wish is granted then you can place it in a safe place for luck.
